It’s at this point in the series that John Kramer is dead, so this might seem a little messy from here on out. I’m still going to be counting the games that John had set up as his kills, even post mortem. There’s a lot of kills that Hoffman set up for his own gain, but far more for John’s. I’m sure Hoffman still gets plenty over the next 4 movies.
The Kills
John Kramer (Jigsaw)
- Trevor – KIAT – So the trap was see no evil, speak no evil. Trevor being the much bigger guy had his eyes sown shut, Art Blank having his mouth sown shut. They have the keys to each others freedom but can’t communicate because instead of worrying about the handicaps set before them, the freak the hell out and attack each other instead. Art ends up beating Trevor to death, but I think hear no evil really won this bout.
- Brenda – KIAT – Rigg is supposed to get a combination for a lock on a device that pulls Brenda’s hair through a ring. Rigg fails, Brenda gets scalped, dies from bleeding out.
- Ivan Landsness – KIAT – He’s rigged (by Rigg no less) to a trap where he’s sprawled out on a bed and has to push a few buttons to have mechanisms gouge his eyes. If he doesn’t comply, the other mechanisms on the bed will basically quarter him. Well…he chose his eyes over his limbs.
- Rex – KIAT – Rex and his wife are set up where they are impaled with metal rods in several places. They are piercing non-vital areas for her, and are piercing several major arteries for him. So she gets the choice of either hanging there and bleeding to death or to pull the rods out and get help, killing her husband. Rex was a dick, now he’s a dead dick.
- Cecil – KIAT – I say trap, but this is John’s noob days. He pretty much just mutilated this dude to mutilate him. I mean, what was going to happen if he did what he was supposed to and survive? He was just going to let him go?
- Eric Matthews – KIAT – Well, Rigg fails his final test, and Eric’s head gets smashed between 2 huge blocks of ice. It’s kinda gross and kinda awesome.
- Rigg and Art Blank – KIAT – Eric shoots Rigg and Art tries to shoot Rigg, getting himself shot in the process as part of their tests to shoot Rigg if he fails his test and walks through the door early. I almost didn’t count them alongside Jeff, but they were all involved in the game so I felt I should.
Mark Hoffman
- Crime Scene Photographer – She dies from somewhat of a booby trap when she’s standing in the wrong place at the wrong time. I’m counting this for Hoffman, not John, simply because I don’t think John had intended for this woman to die, and Hoffman set up the trap.
I’m not counting Jeff even though he does die in this movie at the end of his trap scene. He gets shot by Strahm, who isn’t in the game, for pointing a gun at him. Very dumb death but I guess it needed to happen.
Conclusion
John Kramer kills 8 people in Saw IV while Mark Hoffman kills 1 to a total of 9 kills. Don’t worry, Hoffman will get more. There will be blood. Oh yes, there will be blood.
