I feel like I’ve been hammering away at the backend of this forever even though it’s been less than a month, but I’m finally prepared for a ‘soft launch’ for ScreamCulture.com.
What this means is I’m done for a little while on coding the place. I started out creating a fairly intricate bit of web software for databasing films and ultimately scrapped all of it and decided to follow the KISS method and just use WordPress for about 75% of what I was doing. I still have all of the functions and classes that I had created, and will eventually incorporate them into this website in some form or another, but for now I’ll have a platform to share what I have a passion for, and that is the ins and outs of the horror genre.
So there’s quite a bit I’m wanting to accomplish with this website. I’m wanting to create a series called Retroviews where I will be reviewing old(er) movies that have been released for some time. These will include plot spoilers, what they have done for the genre or even myself, what I think of them, so on and so forth. I’m going to be adding reviews for new movies as I view them (these will remain spoiler free), I also have a lot of editorial / article ideas on our favorite slasher killers and comparisons between them, as well as plans on making a lot of data from the genre a little more easier to digest, hence me saving all of the original code that I have written.
I still have a lot of work to do, but at least now most of that work will be content for others to partake in. Also, if anyone is interested in writing their own articles on this platform or would like to leave some feedback, feel free to leave a comment and I’ll get back with you as time permits.
