Finally, we’re wrapping up the Saw franchise (at least until Saw X comes out next year). I’ll be following this article up with another one comparing Jigsaw and his accomplices to Michael Myers so be on the lookout for that one as well.
The Kills
William Schenk
Detective Bozwick – KIAT – The options are to either jump from the stool and have your tongue ripped out (would that actually have worked?) or to be hit by a train. He chooses to lose the tongue, but does so way too late and gets hit by the train anyway.
Detective Fitch – KIAT – He’s in a tub where he can choose to tear his fingers off by biting down on a mechanism attached to some pulleys that are linked to the Chinese finger trap looking things on his fingers or get electrocuted by the wires dangling by the tub. He tries, and his fingers are decimated in some decent looking Flanagan fashion, but he ultimately takes too much time and gets zapped.
No clue – KIAT? – The movie suggests it is Schenk to throw Chris Rock’s character off, but we know it’s not him because he’s out there killing everyone. So who is this skinned person and how did they die? Were they skinned to death? I was happy to get Bousman back to the franchise, but help me out, would you? You were supposed to solve problems like these, not make more of them.
Captain Angie Garza – KIAT – She has to either sever her spinal chord or be water boarded with hot wax. I don’t think this killers traps work really well, because like most of the kills in this movie, she does what she’s supposed to do but the wax doesn’t stop so she’s suffered with both horrible options of this game of ‘Would You Rather’.
Pete Dunleavy – KIAT – I’m not even going to go into the logistics of the game, because it’s stupid, but the repercussions are actually kind of cool. He gets flayed by glass shards that are shot at him with a machine that apparently shoots objects as powerful a jet engine. Good night.
Marcus Banks – KIAT – Well, he asked him, “Do you want to play a game, motherfucker?” as Sam L Jackson does, and of course his life was in the hands of his sons game, not his. He ends up getting set up like a marionette and basically ends up getting killed via a police firing squad.
Conclusion
William Schenk kills 6 people in Spiral if you include the random flayed body. And I do.
