It’s been rumored for a while now that Tobin Bell would be returning for Saw X, and this afternoon it’s been confirmed. Honestly, I think this raises more questions than it answers about the 10th entry to the franchise. Is he coming back only in flashbacks again like he did in Jigsaw? Is this going to be a prequel and they are retconning another game like how Jigsaw did? I’m sure there are other ways to give Tobin Bell a part without putting the continuity of the franchise in jeopardy that I’m not considering but as much as I enjoy him as a villian, I’m both excited and disappointed. As a fan of the franchise, I enjoyed Jigsaw and Spiral, however, neither were what I really wanted. I want to see what happened to Hoffman. Did he really die at the end of Saw 3D? What about Lawrence Gordon? Hopefully we’ll get some kind of answers with the October of 2023 release.
